Newbie terminology question: server(s) vs farm 1

Is it correct to call the two Citrix MetaFrame XPe servers I have a "farm," or am I using incorrect terms? What is the special relationship between servers that constitutes a farm?

Your Citix farm is your citrix environment as a whole. It is even possible to have one server in your farm.

So I am correct in saying that my farm contains Server One and Server Two.

When you go into the Citrix Man. Console in the left window you should see your environment. At the top of the window you should see your farm name. When you expand it you will get a list. At the bottom there is a Server folder. Expand that you should now see your 2 servers. If both servers are in there then you are golden. If they are not both in there then when you created the second server you did not tell it that it was part of the same farm.

Aha! Sadly, at each server, this action produces only a listing of itself. Thus, I have two separate farms, yes?

How do I convince both servers to belong together in the same farm?

Ok. You can try the CHFARM utility.

Remarks: 

You can use chfarm when you want to move a MetaFrame XP server from its current server farm. You can move the server to an existing IMA-based server farm or create a new server farm at the same time that you move the server. The chfarm utility is available on the MetaFrame XP 1.0 CD-ROM. This utility must be run from the CD-ROM because it accesses IMA installation information. For MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2 and greater chfarm can be run from the server. Don’t run chfarm executables that are not for the current MetaFrame XP installtion. When you run chfarm, it stops the IMA service on the server. The data store configuration part of the MetaFrame XP Setup wizard appears.

When you run the CHFARM util you will lose any published apps (which from what I recall of your posts you do not have any published apps). So you should be all set in trying it.

Once you do that both servers should fall under one farm. This is the first step. Before you try any other load balancing and other stuff (as talked about in your other thread)

It is kinda important to get the environment stable before you build it up.
