Greetings,

I've been using Veritas BE for 6 years and very new to Arcserv. I'm having a few issues with Arcserv software and hope that you gurus could help me with a few questions:

1. One of my backup reports 100% completed, but the job does not report successful. When I stopped it, it hangs for 2 days reporting "stopping"

2. If I rebuild the server from the ground up, how to I retrieve the information from tape? I know in Veritas BE, i would have to do "catalog", which will take forever to do.

Please advice.

a) job reported as complete but not successful - the answer depends on what the job is reported as, incomplete for example means that one or more files where missed.
b) stopped job does not stop - usually the backup is waiting for a response from an agent, stopping the agent will stop the job.

2) Manager, Utilities, Merge. Merge restores a catalog file from tape so it usually only takes a few minutes, or if you want to bring back the whole database select Recover Database.

You might actually find the Admin Guide of value, it is on the CD in the docs directory.
