Newbie - Problem starting web project

I am trying to create a web project and get the following error

The web server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web project located at the following URL: ‘

http://localhost:8080/webapplication1’.

‘ A connection with the server could not be established’.

I have changed ports from 80 to 8080 in the IIS to get this far and I've also ran aspnet_regiis

Can anyone help

The only time I have a experience that type of problem was when I had appache server running at the same time I was using asp.net. Apparently something else is using that port.

I'm not familiar with your system, but if you have any other servers running, then I would stop them before working with asp.net. If that is the case (multiple servers running on the same port) and you still get the error after disabling the servers then I would uninstall .net disable the other servers and then reinstall .net
