Newbie- DIFFERENCE of LMI types?

Hai gurus, just want to ask a simple questions... What is the difference between LMI type of ANSI, Cisco, and Q9333? Is there a certain situation that we must use a certain type?

another one is, if we're going to simulate frame relay without phone company, which LMI types should we use? Or we can choose any of them as long both end use the same type?

LMI types should match on both ends. Depending on how you are going to simulate a frame-relay, you may not need LMI at all. Additionally, Cisco is proprietary and can only be used with Cisco equipment on both ends.

Becareful about using the term "LMI types should match on both ends". The L in LMI means local, so the LMI needs to match between the router and the providers frame-realy switch, NOT between routers.

The biggest difference is that with Cisco LMI you get the CIR information sent to you. See:
