hello. We are replacing our NT server with a w2k server. Our router is configured fine now.. do i need to install anything on the new server for the routerto continue working as it does. Can i just replace the old server with the new one with out touching the router or its conifg?

we have a cisco 1700 router.

Thank you very much for any help.

chris

The router operates independently from the NT server. Changing servers should be a problem as long as you use the correct IP configuration on the server that is being installed.

Great thank you for the reply. i was hoping that was the case. i just dont know much about cisco routers and was nervous to see a "console" cord going right from the router to the back of the server -- i thought there might be some software on the server that i didnt know about.

great thank you again!

The console cable is just for configuring the router. They might also have some software capturing the logging for some reason that way, but it will in no way disable the router.
