I just installed the new updates (from maybe a few days ago they were released), and each time I boot my PC, just as it gets to the login screen, it reboots. Once only I had an error telling me that I had a memory overload. But then it rebooted before I could note it down.

My system setup is:

AMD64 3500+
Asus A8N SLi Deluxe
1gb Geil RAM PC 3200
1 Maxtor 80gb HDD
1 (unsure of brand i forgot!) 120gb HDD
Soundblaster Audigy 2
MSI GeForce 6600 GT PCI-E
and relevant cooling fans etc.

Anyone else having this problem? Or any idea how I can fix this from the recovery console? Thanks alot!

Also, it is killing my keyboard (USB connection) sometimes when I getto the Boot Menu. When I do manage to get into safe mode, it stops loading on c:\windows\system32\acpitabl.dat

It pauses there for a minute then reboots

At the Safe Mode options screen, do you have the option to turn off Automatic Restarts so that it will halt at the BSOD allowing you to note the details?

If you are talking about Windows Updates causing the problem, then by following this example (and knowing the update file name, you may be able to remove the offending update? Don't remove SP2, just use the article as a guide.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
