New sealed IP500 V2 Control Unit w/ new 9.1 SD card

It is by default in IPO Mode - Not Basic.

Simple Config - only need it for 2 lines and (2) 1416 dig phphes - no VM

Powers up - open in manager - first control unit - comes up fine - both 1416s are fine ... I save config = choose "immediate" ... it reboots ... and now when it comes back up - both 1416 phones show "NO LICENSE AVAILABLE" ???

I reboot and same issue.

No calls made or any SW upgrades/downgrades ...

SAME with a 2nd control unit and new 9.1 SD card?

Am I loosing it :)

If you don't have essential edition license then you don't have a license to run it in IPO Mode. Change it to basic mode.

Actually by default it is in Basic not IP mode. When you first connect to a control unit it asks what edition you want to run and you should of selected Basic. What did you choose? Also make sure default to standard is unchecked in the preferences.

Since you are in standard mode you must now default the control unit and start over. Once you do so you must select basic. There is no way to go from standard back to basic aside from sending an offline config.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

File-Advanced-Change Mode will let you switch it to basic. It defaults the config.

Maybe I should amend this statement

or default system. The options are to default system or send an offline config to get back to basic. I think my message might of been unclear but those are the only 2 options.

Typo - it is in basic mode.

Phones work fine ... as soon as I "SAVE CONFIG" and choose "immediate" it reboots as it should - but when it comes back up the 1416s show the "NO LICENSE AVAILABLE" error??

You probably have default to standard mode in preferences checked. This ignores you selecting basic and once you save the config puts it into standard. If you have default to standard mode unchecked and this still happens I have seen an occasional bug with Windows 10 doing something like this. Showing you are in basic and you selected basic but actually being in standard (or vice versa). If you confirm default to standard is turned off, and you are indeed running Windows 10, try making an offline basic config and then send that to the system. It has worked for me in the past.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

When you pull a config does it show in IP Office mode or Basic mode? They look different and my guess is you having really saved it as basic mode. Do as critchey stated and default the config, but before doing that make sure under preferences you uncheck "default to standard mode".

We just had installed 9.1 manager SW on a new laptop - so preferences hadn't been set.

It was set to "default to standard mode" from basic.

But that shouldn't cause the NO LICENSE AVAILABLE" screen error on the 1416 - should it?

What causes that error?

By default manager IS set to default to standard. That means regardless of what you select it will just go to standard mode. You need an essential edition license to run standard. If you run your system in standard and have no essential edition license all phones will display NO LICENSE AVAILABLE.

In summary:
Yes that would cause your 1416 phones to display that and the fact you have no essential edition license and are in standard mode is the cause.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

yes because you will be configured for standard mode without the essential edition licence.

Do yourself & your customer a favour, Ignore all the advice on how to default the system into basic mode. & do the following two things

1) Purchase some administration training
2) Purchase an essential edition licence running muppet Basic mode is like buying an Aston Martin & then only using the Valet Key.
3) Purchase some administration training*

I know this is technically the same as option 1 but it is so important I though it worth mentioning twice.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
