Just installed this new unit with 16 tapes. In CA ARCSERV 11.1, in Devices, it shows the 16 slots with tapes. I put them in groups Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Month 7 with 3 tapes each. When I go to do a backup it gives me the message "unable to find any media that can be used in this job: Error W3831. I used the Device Configuration Wizard to configure them as a tape/optical backup. I must be missing one step. Any suggestions please. TIA

Do a Quick Erase Plus on the tapes before they are used by the job for the first time.

Thanks for the reply. I think I just figured this out. The tapes were formatted in an old tape backup. In order to use them I would need to de-gauss. It is cheaper to buy new tapes. I was able to format the tapes in the old backup machine today and they were listed as read/write. As soon as I put them in another machine, it said write protect on.
