Hey gang.
Just today, when I start a new email message in outlook 2k running on win 2k - the new blank email has a data file attached. I open it with notepad and it appears to be a header from a previous email, i.e. recipient, sender, ip address, etc etc. in a. the file name is something like AT0000019.dat I can delete it, but when I click on New, there it is again. What gives? Anyone?

Thanks,

Dan

Are you using Word as your email editor. If so, find mail.dot and rename it as mail.bad. See if that resolves the problem.

If would also Clear Cache for Outlook. Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced Options -> Custom Forms -> Manage Forms and click Clear Cache.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Thanks for the replies...I tried both suggestions, and neither helped. There was no file mail.dot, however there was a file email.dot. I renamed it but it had no effect. It's really not a problem, because you can just delete the attachment, but it's very annoying, so any more ideas?

Thanks,

Dan.
