new NT8D controler card doesn't like me, at least not in "that way".

lost a controler card last summer and finally able to get around to replace but new card fails to initialize when module repowered. has power, passes diagnostic but fails software load.

HAVE YOU TRIED ANOTHER

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

what's the story with the old one, except for having it in the wronge slop (ie, left or right) it's a no brainer

old one died after a power spike. now the switch is acting as though there isn't any software reference to that loop.

is the loop enabled?

Is the Cable connected?

ld 97
REQ:prt
type: SUPL

does the loop show up here?

ld 97
req: prt
type: XPE

do you see the controller here?

loop enabled, cable connected.

ld 97 does show "DIS" for controller enabled (under XPE) All other states in ld 97 are as they should be for loop/location/ring

when I enable the card in ld 32 I get "peripheral software download failure" (NPR 334)

Did you get a warrenty on your card- time to get a replacement of the replacement.

I hate to go there that quickly without exhausting all other paths first. How safe would it be to take one of my other controllers and switch one out for a test? The switch should keep the relative port information, or is that chancing loss of a whole loop's programming? Hey, I figure it's the Holidays and the weekend. most of my users won't even be in, let alone notice a 15 minute disruption.

no you will not lose anything by swapping it with a working controller..

ld 97
prt
xpe look for one that is disabled, and note which one is built for that loop, then in 32 enxp x on that controllee. that downloads information to that card and lights the xpe number in the window

yep, that's when I get the NPR0334. Which makes me think it's a software backup failure.

Which then makes me wonder about simply (yah, right) rebuilding the controller's programming. I guess I could treat this like an upgrade of sorts, adding a module from scratch. Is that possible or am I reaching here? My brain hurts.

That is possible and easy to do - But I don't think that is the problem

Find an available slot for a Superloop

LD 97
Req: chg
type: XPE
XPEC: <-- enter unused XPEC number

LD 97
Req: CHG
Type: SUPL
SUPL: <-- enter new supl loop number
Slot: <-- L for left or R for Right
XPE0: <-- enter new XPE numbmer followed by 0 1 - (8 0 1)

Move SUPL card and cable to XPE

LD 32 ENL x <-- enable loop
ld 32 enxp x <-- enable controller

If that works - you can use move cammand to move phones - you will need to rebuilt trunks and ACD sets

Or you could assign to shleve 1 of an existing Superloop if you do not have an availble slot for superloop

ld 97

xpe

supl

and post those here, if the switch was told that the xpe/supl is there. about one chance in a billion that it's a software issue.. what supl is it and where are you trying to plug it in? are you sure your adding it to the same slot that it is in the software.. i don't ask these questions because i doubt your ability, it's just that i don't know if you've been a switchman for 2 hours or 30 years, so i am trying to find the break down point.

No offense taken JP, I wouldn’t be here if I knew what I was doing. (there's a Zen joke I'm going to let pass) It's been 4 years but I honestly spend most of my days just trying to prove I'm smarter than my switch.

So here 'tis...

Sorry for the lag time. Haven't had my laptop in all week and had a live reprogramming of an ACD/Meridian Mail workaround keeping me busy.

and Reusser, wasn't ignoring yours but as this is a replacement I figured it should work where the old one was. Plus I am out of available shelf space (aside from this particular SL) to test another slot.
