I've been running into a very random issue with Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002 with an Exchange 2000 Server SP3.

New emails are not showing up until there is some activity in the client by the user, such as clicking on a folder, opening an old email, etc.... and no new mail indicator is showing as well.

Was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue? or if anyone has any ideas as to what to look for.

Thanks.

When there is a lack of activity, is there some setting on the machine that is disabling network access?

lcook,
I am having the exact same problem!! It is happening on one of my clients. I have un-installed and re-installed the entire office suite, including outlook 2k, but the problem persists. I can load the exchange account on another computer and it works fine, so the only think I can think of is that it is the problem pc. I am about ready to format and re-install everything from scratch.

I would think that troyu's reccomendation would be correct, but it happens on *every* incoming email, one right after another... But, oddly enough, outgoing email works just fine, all the time...

You know, I started out thinking it was the desktops or the office installs, however, it just stopped happening one day. I believe changes were made at the Exchange Server level that filtered to the desktops. I truly believe it starting happening right after the SP3 install on the Exchange server. But Microsoft came out with a Post SP3 rollup to address the issues that occurred after the install of the SP3. They also have a Post SP3 rollup for the ADC.

Maybe this fixed... maybe it didn't.. But for sure, it stopped.

was it happening on all your clients? It is only happening on one client here. and I can conf. the same user on another computer and everything works just dandy... hmmmmmm...

Well, it was happening on my Win2K desktops, but not on my Win NT desktops.
