Hi. Thanks in advance...

Just landed a new job in a NW network. My last position was in a Microsoft shop. Have theory of NW from Microsoft class but never touched system. (Instructor prefered it to NT at time....) Can anyone provide some links to on line material that can get me up to speed on the basics and beyond? I will get OTJ training but would like to start with some knowledge in hand.

Yes, the first thing you need to do is forget everything you ever learned from Microsoft. The MS way of thinking is worthless. How you did stuff with NT is wrong. You are now in an environment where things work. Glad you made it. Hang out around here and you'll learn quite a bit.

Another place to get good info is Novell's online documentation.

LOL. Thanks for the info. I'll check it out

just ask if you have specifics

enjoy - so much more fun working with NW

I have to agree with the other posts Jay, after having administered all types of platforms at one time or another, I feel that learning Netware administration will make you a better sysadmin. Good luck to you.

First of all, congratulations on your new job. It's good to hear that people are actually getting hired now. Welcome to the wonderful world of Netware. Your best source of information would be to go to Novell's website. Try for starters. I use for answers to questions. Also, if you've got time, get a general Netware Administration book for your local bookstore. Again, congratulations.
