I just installed XP Pro on a machine that was previously running W2k Pro. I performed a clean install of XP by formatting the 2 of the 4 partitions on the HD. All was well until I went to log in after a restart and it froze up at the welcome (login) window. I restarted several times and the same thing happens. It happens at different point in the boot process too. Sometimes at the WXP splash screen and then other times at the login screen. What gives? I have heard it could be a corrupt driver, but which one? How would I find out?

mondy: - The very same thing happened to me and through process of elimination, I found that 2K had aquired a veeeeeeery small piece of the hard drive and lodged itself there. At first dynamite wouldn't move it but I did eventually get rid of it. Then installed XP and now running like clockwork.

What kind of program is "dynamite"? Is it a low-level format utility or partition tool, or what? Thanks!
