OK.. ready for this....

I finally set some time to migrate my IIS server to a new box and in doing so have faced something I have never seen before.

I started setting up the sites (using on IP- Host headers) and when I would test the site on a user machine... I would get strange overflow.

Let me explain...

SITE 1 Setup-
Host headers to look at all assigned IPs for:
and site111111.com

Works great..
I then set up another...
and site22222.com

ok.. so I test then test site111111.com
and instead of seeing site 1111111 I see: site22222.com

OK... so i say thats strange.. and make a default site...
I leave the host headers blank to catch all other sites...
and I turned off the other sites... just the default running with a blank page.

Now when I click the ip address.. I get site22222.com with no images (obviously because it is off and the HTML is cached?

Anyone else have this happen?
I ended up leaving the othre server up.. walking outside and banging my head against a tree...

That did help either.

Pleas let me know if you ever saw it.. fixed it.. or just plain had other IIS freaky issues.

Thanks
David McIntosh

This is strange...

I reinstalled Server and IIS and CF MX.
Set up the server and it does the same!

Every heard of that?

I even shut off all the sites thinking I would get nothing... but I still get the Cached default site I set up.

What the heck is happening?

I will try deleteing CF MX and seeing if that does anything diffeent, but I am in trouble if that fixes it.

This is really werid.

I upgraded our Win2k Server to CF MX yesterday and the same thing is happening on that box now as well. Went from CF 4 to MX via the uninstall CF 4 and then install MX.

Gonna pop over to the Macromedia site and see if there is anything on there, I was thinking it was a IIS problem but it might be a MX issue!

I wonder if it is a service pack issue... I upgraded all the latest SP3 and PreSP4 hotfixes.. so maybe one of those is the problem...

I even thought it was bad memmory quietly acting up so I replace the memory... I am going nuts.. because I have installed MX on win 2K in the past without noticing any problems... so it must be a combination of recent patches... on the Windows side.

The latest upgrade SP for MX didnt fix it.

Dont you find it strange that when you upgrade to MX you need to re-point the ISAPI filters.. read my article:
Let me know if you figure out if it is MX or IIS or a combo of things... Macromedia says nothing about this...
