If I duplicate the HG I have for my current VM access and insert different extensions, put an aar entry in to go over the DS1's to VM.. will that disrupt anything production?

Well one thing you need to look at is to search for all the places that the original hg # is used. But what type of systems are we talking about?

It's only used for VM. I want to create a seperate entry into VM by duping the existing and using different extensions in the new HG. But without disrupting the current/production access. This a CM 5.2 with MM integrated with DS1/QSIG.

Hrmmm... I thought I saw this question the other day? Replace your HG 'pilot' number with a new number (3344 for example), then add a VDN with your old HG 'pilot' number and point it to a new vector with a step that says, route to number 3344...

Build your vector ahead of time, and this change will take <10 seconds to complete.

We do this all the time when we're doing maintenance on our MM's. We point the Pilot number and Coverage Paths to a 'Sorry we're performing maintenance' vector.

I got that, but I want to create a new HG with different extensions, add them to aar and use the same RP as my current pilot number uses to get to the VM trunks all while the production HG is up and running right now. Basically I want to create a 2nd entry into VM. Can that be done w/o some clash ?

Sorry, I don't understand the objective... If you're trying to increase the number of ports you have, this won't work. If you're trying to publish multiple Pilot numbers for your single MM - use vdn's/vectors to accomplish that.

Sorry if I sound dense. I want to create a seperate entry into VM for only myself along side the existing production entry in preparation for some maintenance tomorrow night. I know exactly what I have to do for the outage window with the changes we discussed yesterday. For right now I want to test my backdoor entry into VM with the new HG I created etc.. In doing this right now the existing HG is still in production as the outage isn't until tomorrow. I just want to know by me creating the 2nd entry and testing that I won't screw up anything with the production.

Ok, so you are wanting two HG to your current Voice Mail systems. I don't know how MM connect to the system. So I can not say on that point. but if you are talking about just getting into VM, to retrieve message then it should work. If you want it to be a Cov. point for call to go to VM, then you more than likely have additional things to check.

My MM connects via DS1/QSIG. After creating a new HG, I would just have to put that pilot # in aar to the same route pattern my current pilot number is using, which goes over the T1's to the MM? I thought that was pretty much it.
