I got a nice new dell desktop system, got all my stuff moved over and just realized one of the most critical programs I need will not run correctly. Running the same OS, Windows XP Pro SP2. Fresh install, every other program works fine.
It is a customer management program, sorts files, etc. The problem is when it reads a simple text file it is erroring out saying the file is too big, saying it has more than 2xx,xxx,xxx items. I have tried with files with as little as 2 items. I also took the exact file, sent it over the network to the old desktop running the same program from the same install exe and it processes it flawlessly.
Does anyone have any idea what would cause an error like this? Is it something with new CPUs that make older programs act funny? I have no idea what I am going to do now.. I am just going a little nuts now. I have emailed the company that made the program, but who knows if I will hear anything back.
Greatly appreciate any thoughts.
Thank you
