hi i'm on xp pro, with no new devices installed, the system keeps on picking a new device, when i follow the wizard it says "unknown device"when i go to device mananger on the "other device"tree it shows unknown device.i even tried to uninstall all the dives it had picked but no change

i dont have any usb device connected,i even thought it was my cd rom i disconnected it and rebooted still no diffrence

First I would try reinstalling the latest drivers for your chipset.. possibly a mobo device used on say the nForce or Intel chipsets.

I would also reinstall all of the drivers for your video, sound, network cards, as well as any RAID/IDE controllers you may have installed.

If that doesn't work, I would recommend shutting down, removing one device, and then booting back up, and repeating until the device stops detecting.

will try that lets wait and see chat in a while...

Did you do what I recommended? Removing all un-needed devices such as the sound card, modem, nic, any usb devices, un-needed CD-Roms/Hard drives?

If you disconnect everything in your system except the power supply, mobo, cpu & primary hard drive nothing new should detect unless you haven't properly installed the package for your mobo.
