Can anyone help? I am trying to install a Windows 2000 Pro workstation to a existing network consisting of NT4 Server, 5xNT4 Workstations, 1x95 Workstation, 1x98 Workstation. I have got as far as seeing 2 workstations but when the Domain Name is entered for verification to see server it says the domain does not exist. At the moment I can see a Windows 95, NT4 and 98 workstations as they have the same workgroup name. Any suggestions that may nake me see the server? The server can see the workstation but can;t open the network path to communicate. I have also tried to set up an account specificaaly for this computer but that is not working either.

From your NT Server, does the 2000 machine show up in Server Manager?

In Response to networking Win2k if you can see the other computers ip addresses are correct but check the subnet mask
example ip 10.10.10.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

second ip address 10.10.10.2
subnet mask 255.255.0.0

the computers will be able to see each other but not be able to access resorces

To Rhort I can not see the Server Manager on the w2k workstation.

Morpheus I have double checked the IP numbering and their seems to be no conflict within that area.

Any other suggestions would eb greatly appreciated

use dhcp to get the ip adres. Specify the gateway ip of the server. The w2k comp should then get his info from the nt4 server. (If you are in the same workgroup.)
