networking connectivity problem

I have a 10/100bt network I'm using a 3com Linkbuilder FMS II hub.  When I connect the hub to a live wall outlet that I am able to get on the network with no problem w/o a hub the cat 5 cable going to the wall into plug one on the hub gets no link light any other compters that I plug into the hub get link lights but no network connectivity.  I pretty certain it is not a hub issue but don't know why I can't get a network link through a hub.

When you connect a hub, you need a link light. Linkbuilder hubs are cascadable you need to use port 12 or 24 and toggle MDI MDX untill you get a connect light.
