Networking a domain controlled computer with an external home network

I guess this is the other half of my question I posted earlier...

What is the best way to network my work laptop, which is part of a domain at work, with my home computer, without changing anything detrimental on the laptop? I've got Windows 2000 Professional on both computers, and I don't mind changing the IP address, etc., on my home computer to try and match the laptop if that works.

Typically your laptop needs to obtain an IP address from somewhere. Do you have a router that provides DHCP?

All you NEED is to have the IP's of both computers be in the same network space. Running a DHCP server (router or Internet Connection sharing on your home PC) would ensure this.

Changing the name of you workgroup on your home machine to match the domain name on your laptop would speed up share discovery.

Would you need to have NetBEUI installed or would IP be enough?
