Hi,

does anybody know a trick to get networker inquire runing again on a solaris 10 box with emulex cards and lpfc drivers ?

Wit the sun emlxs drivers it works, but if you go to lpfc (and sun recommends for tape devices only the original emulex driver) inquire does not show anything, because lus is no nonger used and the apis are not avail.

hi,

the scsi drives should be statically bound to the hba's via the /kernel/drv/st.conf file.

thanks

@ lnbn0507,

this is done and not the problem, the problem is the Solaris 10 and that there some api´s not longer avail !

Hi - I haven't done it yet, but have had several discussions on this topic...

I believe you need to use Sun's Leadville drivers, instead of the Emulex drivers to make this work properly, under Solaris 10.

good luck!

One thing about the above post... "It" refers to inquire. mt and other commands should still work fine, with the Emulex drivers.

Hi ,

with the sun leadville driver it works, i know, but with that we had huge problems !

One was a timeout sometimes on cloning with networker, another one where lost commands.

After a long discussion with sun they told us, with tape drives we SHOULD use the LPFC instead of leadville.

Thanks for that bit of information... I know plenty of folks using the Leadville drivers (with tape drives) with no issues. Definitely something good to keep in mind.

What kind of problems did you have?
