Greetings.
Have a strange problem with one of my NT4 workstations.
Nothing shows up in Network Services tab in Network Neighborhood properties. Also nothing shows up in Protocols tab. Yet workstation is working fine. It is part of an IP network and part of the domain.
I have local admin on the system, but it does not help. I can add services, but they will not show up after install.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I would suggest a registry corruption? -----------------------------------------------------

Okay if buy chance you are not the administrator then you wouldn't be granted permisions to anything to do with the Nics protocals , but like windows 2000 there are administrative Templetes in nt4.0 that you could configure that people will not see certain things but the server will still run fine even though you dont see it ! Some thing like this make sence to you ? That has to be it ! System policy editor ........... see if anyone else in the admins group had the same problem ! I could be on the right Track But then why would you be able to add services and then not be able to see them after you install them ! How did you see it in the first place ! Thats confusing the hell out of me ~ Well now i am going to put up a nt 4 box For the hell of it and futts around with it Hey Cant say i didn't try ! Hope i helped out ?

Thanks, LiNetTech.
Unfortunately, system policy is out of the question - been there. Firstly, as I mentioned, the system is part of an NT domain and I would see this behavior on other systems (have a couple of dozens of them, exactly the same setup), and secondly, I checked it.
Also, I did not have the luxury of playing with the box long enough to fix it - we are in a production environment, so I had to reimage it. {sigh}

Thanks anyway.

I've had this on a clone with network properties greyed out. A reinstall of IE 5.5 fixed the problem - why it worked i've no idea !
