Hi there,

I am running RH9 on a network with Smoothwall as a firewall/router. The interface is configured to get its IP upon booting from the DHCP server on the firewall. Suddenly, I can no longer connect to the internet through the firewall, although no changes were made to the client configuration.

Upon booting I get the following message:

Bringing up interface eth0 - Determining IP information for eth0 ... iptables: No chain/target/match by that name failed. iptables: Bad rule(does a matching rule exist in that chain?).

Trying to ping the gateway(or any server BTW) results in the message "Network is unreachable"!

What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Regards, Felix

Problem is in you iptables. Check the logs and rules.
