Hi all,
I am using Debian 2.4.4 on 7 Dell servers ..
we are using NIS server on one of the server.
all servers are connected to 3com switch

Previosly before shifting that servers all were working fine... After shifting.. three of them are not in network..
I have checked all that neccessary hardware, firewall and /etc/network/* files but could not ping the gateway ...There is no change in any of the configuration except /etc/resolv.conf. All 4 machines are working fine but the three are still not in network.

I could not sort out the probelm because all 7 machines are of same the configuration files are same. I also checked by attaching HDD of working machine to non working machine... it is perfectly working... on that hardware.
I checked ethernet driver modules also it seems to be working. It shows card with lspci and configuration with ifconfig..

any idea about this..... If it is not done.. i'll have to reinstall those machines... since it is not a good solution.. i m searching for good one..

Thanks in advance....

Hi all,
I made a mistake in checking the NIC drivers. Actually I have 4 NIC's. of two differnt make. THe order of NIC's got reversed. It was amazzing ... why it was working previosly i still couldn't find out. After changing the order of modules in /etc/modules for NIC's It is working fine....

I swear this to be true, and in validation of your efforts, that on a box with mixed NICs of Linksys LNE100TX and DLiNk 530's that the Linksys module HAD to be installed first in order for any NIC to get discovered correctly.

Glad you found the answer, hopefully someone else learns from our pain.
