I have installed a new Netgear card in a new Dell Dimension (PIII). The card and drivers install OK and are the latest versions. Ihave enabled Netbui and TCP and can ping other computers. When I try and run ME network options I get a Windows protection error VSERVER(01. I've tried all of the usual stuff and am now stumped...

Thanks, but I've already tried this. Incidently, if I remove the MS file and printer share I can setup the network, but it will fail on rebooting, so it's definately somthing to do with the MS file/Printer share.

Using netbeui, is this set to be the default? Is it still bound to TCP/IP for the internet? Separating the two should help. What logon options are you using? MS Family, Network?
You may try removing all networking options, and starting from scratch. Are you using a cable or DSL internet connection? Do you have "Virtual Server" installed? If so, you don't need it to run a peer-peer network using netbeui.
Fishing in the dark X-) Cheers,
Jim

Done all of that, and no change. However, I have got everything to work by reinstalling ME. It seems as though ME wants NICs installed prior to installing the OS...
