Am using Windows 98SE, Norton, and Zone Alarm. For some reason my computer is pinging computers at Verio (various addresses) which is not part of my network and from time to time they try connecting to me via 137. Print and file share is turned off and Zone Alarm says these are being blocked but yet there seems to be some sort of communication going on here. I ran PestPatrol and it tells me I have one program that may be doing this, it's Sam Spade and I have it shut/blocked from the net except when I use it. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Your ping program or Sand Spade is probably initiated either at startup or by the Task Scheduler. Run MSCONFIG and check Startup, System.ini and Autoexec.bat for the pirate program. If you find it, uncheck the start option.
Else, open the Task Scheduler. Probably it is already running and represented by an icon at the lower right corner of the screen. If you cannot find it, go to Start , Run and type MSTASK. Then you will get a list of scheduled tasks (which you can disable).

I didn't wait for help I started seeing about ten 137's an hour (10 in, 10 out) and it was driving me nuts. I should have listened to PestPatrol it was telling me all along it was a bug. Sam has some handy tools but not at the expense of sharing and as soon as I dumped it things went back to normal. Thanks!
