One of my users is having a problem in Windows XP. Every morrning when she boots her PC up, one of her network drives is always missing. It is always the same one and she does have other network connections that don't disconnect. I have other users who have Windows XP and none of them have this problem. She use to have Windows 98 and it never happened with it. She is connecting to Windows NT servers. I would like to know if anyone knows what maybe causing this to happen to only her PC. Please let me know if you need any other information. Thanks for your help in advance.
Thanks,
Dennco

When mapping the drive, did you check the option to Reconnect at Logon?

I make sure that is checked every single time I have to remap the drive and it still doesn't save the connection

I tried both of those documents and neither one of them worked. No matter what I do I cannot get the drive to stay connected when she restarts her computer. It is only when I map it to the E: drive does this happen. If I map it to a different letter the network connection does in fact stay but for a program that we use the connection has to be on E:. Any other suggestions?

Add the following to the startup section of the user profile:

In the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Open a notepad session as remap.cmd, and paste and save the following:

net use E: /delete /Y
net use E: your mapping here /Persistent:No /Y

The remap.cmd did the trick. The connection now stays when she restarts her PC. Thanks for all of your help.

Glad you got it sorted.

The underlying issue is that the default status for a map would be essentially /Persistent:Yes

This can be confounding at times due to the asynchronous processing of the logon in XP.

Best,
