Hello,
I have recently been put in a position to design and implement small to medium size networks. I am relatively new at this being a practicing MCSE for only about a year and half. Does anyone know of any sites that have maybe network design templates, advice, or a place where you could submit design ideas to be critiqued. I am really interested in the physical hardware layout such as switch and hub placement. I would very much appreciate any links or ideas. Thank you.

Cisco used to have some decent stuff online in a small/medium business part of their site (of course, they're trying to sell you their product in the end, but there is still some decent info there)

Try this URL:

or go to the main page and find the link to the Small/Medium Business pages.

Thank you for your response.
Any recommended books for network design that may explain such things as when to use a switch vs hub ect. would also be appreciated. I'm just trying to put together some good resources to refer to when designing a new network. Thanks so much for any information. This forum and it's users have been very much help to me.

Look up Cisco's Config Maker on their site. Not only will it let you design your WAN, but you will learn from it also. Then after you set it up, it will upload the configuration to each router that you decide to purchase. Nice piece of software.
