I can't figure out how to phrase this so here's an example: I have a Win98 laptop plugged (cat5) into my WinXP pro desktop which has two network cards that are bridged (it does this even when not bridged) and if I restart the laptop my desktop says that one of its network ports has no connectivity, this is normal but then it gets strange, even after the laptop boots up and resolves an IP from the desktop, the desktop still shows it as dissconnected. it goes back to normal if i open the network connections window and refresh it, but its really annoying to have to do that every time. I have tried telling windows not to notify me when that connection has limited or no connectivity but it contiues to do so. nothing short of disabling the interface will get it to stop.
