I am having a problem connecting to the web (sorry if this is the wrong forum). I'm on ny university network and my roomates ave no trouble.
Wwhen I open IE it takes some time to open the MSN sign in page and once it loads and I type in my password I get Server cannot be found. All settings are unchanged from yesterday when it worked fine.
Any help appreciated

As a tester check your ip address write it down and then compare it with a working machine
If you have a 169.*.*.* address then thats a Windows own assigned IP address....
Might be a problem with your NIC or cabling....
If worst comes to worst take ya PC to ya mates room and hook up to his cable and see.....

Found a virus called W32.spybot.worm.
Did a scan in Safe mOde and removed it. Cleared the entries in the registry too and now I can get online but if I click a link on a page I get the page cannot be found message.
Will try to move the machine trick
