Hi all,

bit stumped at present, after loads of problems with the server I have most working, the only one left to do is a quirky network connection problem.

the server seems to never connect to the network. However, when you ping the server from a machine on the network and restart the server it shuts down and then the client shows replies form the server all the way to when the services are starting up. So obviously its going pear shaped when the services are starting up.

these are the failures:

ID:7000
The PCANDIS5 Protocol Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.

andthe other one is just synching with external time source error. so i take it ive gota file missing but what file!

Sounds to me like you're having a problem with your PC NDIS Framework.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\pcandis5 and look at the string in the ImagePath value. Search for that file and fix the path. If you have the correct path you may need to enclose the string in quotes.

Check out and see if you really need that service any more, it does have a specific purpose. If not, go into CP/Administrative Tools/Services and disable the service by setting it to disables.

I would make very sure that something on your network isn't using that service, like a user app, before you go disabling it or removing it, but considering that it's not working you'd already have users crawling down your back.

Good Luck

cheers al,

spot on, it was a service on the router and the path had ben changed to the file as when the router was recovered the drives were remapped amd the path useless :-/

and yeah, they were on my back big style seems as the interfaces on the server went down when that service failed!

cheers dude
