We have a 2000 active directory network, two DCs, with one acting as DNS server, enable forwarders is not enabled. There has been no known changes to this environment.

Suddenly, a critical site for our business operations can't be accessed. In the Chache\.\com\ directory this site has a folder, however, there are no records in the rght pane
(I don't know if this is important information or not?).

I downed the network and initially this site could be reached, but in a short period, the same behavior began again where our network couldn't resolve this site.

Appreciate any suggestions is troubleshooting and hopefully resolving this situation.

Thank you,

Andrew

Could there be a problem with the site itself???
If you are not changing anything on your end then maybe they are having problems... Try checking the site from outside your network when you cannot access it. They could be having DNS Server issues.

I did try that and had no problems accessing the site from home. This morning I cleared the cache and right afterward I could access the site from work. The 'cache\.\com\sitename directory had all the appropriate DNS records. However, shortly afterwards, I noticed that I could no longer access the site. I then checked the site folder's DNS records and noticed that now there were none. They somehow disappeared.?
