Netware 6 rights issues I think

Well we are currently having problems accessing or mapping network drives to a specific server.

Users have been moved from Netware 4.11 servers to netware 6.

The computers were ok yesterday. When I browse the Network from Network Neighbourhood, I can access the Folders but I can map the drives any ideas.

Nw Client 4.9, windows 2000 also.

Rights are set to Everyone Group.

Currently running DSREPAIR on both servers, When do I stop runiing it when errors are dwon to zero?

I have ran DSREPAIR unatteneded about minimum 5 times on both servers and I am still getting errors.

Hi,

Have you tried mapping from a DOS window.

map h:=<server_name>\sys:<path_to_directory>

What error do you get when you attept this?

Also, logged in as the user, can you change (CD) to that directory? If so, you should be able to map to it. If not it's rights. You need a minimum of &quot;R F&quot; to map to it.

Well Ive tried this after a few dsrepairs the two users are now ok to login to the mapped drives.

These are SERVER_COMMON/TEMP and SERVER_USER
They way I mapped the drives was through network neighbourhood it would let me map thorugh UNC path mapping.

I want to create Login Script to map drives as:
F: SYS of server
G: SERVER_COMMON/Temp
H: SERVER_USER

any help appreciated.

Hi,

If you want to map root to these locations you add it to the login script as follows:

map F:=<Server_Name>\sys:
map root G:=<Server_Name>\SYS:\SERVER_COMMON\Temp
map root H:=<Server_Name>\SYS:\SERVER_USER

Well look here thi is the problem, I think it may be with rights.

My other colleague has been sorting a few folders out regarding rights.

Ok heres a whats happening a folder with \\Server\\Commom\Temp

I can map to with out any errors, then if I disconnect that drive I can map to \\Server\Common without any errors.

Im stumped.

Any help with DSREPAIR?

I think you're looking in the wrong place. DSREPAIR is not going to fix it.

You might have a problem with your licensing. That is a common error if you don't have licensing setup correctly.

From the console on the server, do a VERSION and see what it says about your license. Report back on what it displays.

Hi,

First off your server has an Abend. This is indicated by the <1> after the name. You should restart and bring it up clean.

Sencond, version 5.60???

5.60 indicates NetWare 6.0 with no service packs.

Zaheer, You need to patch the server. And that will probably resolve the abend problem as well. And wasn't there more info displayed when you typed version than what you listed? It looks like you omitted stuff that I was hoping you'd list.

Sorry nothing else came up. I am aware that the server needs pactching. We do not have a backup startegy in place yet. Thank you again.
Ill post back, with more detials our server will not boot now after it has been powered off.
