Hi

I have Netscreen Remote version 7 installed on my Windows XP client machine. I have a Netscreen 5XT firewall installed. My tunnel has been created to the intended server based on my policy, in order to allow the client access to exchange server via outlook client.

I am having a problem authenticating onto the Exchange server, the client receives an error indicating that the exchange server could not be located.

any ideas on how to resolve this? what am I missing. are they any extra ports I am to open.

thanks

Hey,

Can you ping the Exchange server? If so, what services does your VPN policy allow? Let me know.

Rgds,

John

Hi

Yes I can ping the Exchange server, and the policy which was created allows for any traffic to traverse. Are they any extra ports I should have open.

Thanks

I don't think you need any additional ports, since your using "any". I would set the MTU size on your Firewall though. Open the CLI: set flow tcp-mss 1400

This should resolve fragmented traffic to your Exchange server. I find this a lot with Exchange...

Rgds,

John

one quitck solutions is take the computer and joing the domain that should resolve the issue if you are using Outlook client

if you are using wireless, you might need to set your MTU even lower than 1400 - I always found 1300 to be 'safe' for pretty much and encryption overhead...
