I recently had a customer whose hard drive fried and had to use a recovery program to get information from the old drive. The recovery program worked great an I recovered 68000 files. All the files and folders recovered were put into a new folder on the new hard drive.
The old operating system was W2000. The new drive was installed with WXP Pro.
Now the dilemma....The customers used Netscape to get his e-mail. Knowing nothing about Netscape, am I wrong in assuming that that doesn't make a difference and his mail still went to outlook express? If so what file should I be lookng for to retreive his old mail?

If Netscape mail was setup to use POP then the mail would be on the clients system. Depending on what version of Netscape the files are contained in an SNM files (older versins of Netscape will have an SNM file and a file by the same name without the extension). These files are usually under the Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Users directory.

If the client was using IMAP then the mail is still probably on the server.
