I installed Solaris 8 afresh. When I try to connect to the internet, I get this error

Code:
warning: the following hosts are unknown:

home.netscape.com
home6.netscape.com
internic.net

some or all hosts are unreachable.

Perhaps there is a problem with your name server?

if your site must use a non_root name server, you will need to set the
$SOCKS_NS environment variable to point at appropriate name server. It may
(or may not) be necessary to set this variable, or the SOCKS host
preference, to the IP address of the host in question rather than its name.

Also, I couldn't find the resolv.conf or defaultrouter file in the /etc

During Installation process, I clicked "None" in the Name server column. Have I done any mistake during installation process.

you need to create /etc/defaultrouter and put the ip address of your router. Need to create /etc/resolv.conf and put nameserver ipaddress.
edit your /etc/nsswitch.conf put dns after file on hosts line.

See if this helps.

Thanks
