Netscape 7 (Mozilla) Mail Cut and Paste question

I often find myself copying and pasting text from browser pages using IE6 into my email, Netscape 7. When I do this, I get these funky text box/graphics with no text at all. Just the handles like an image or text box would have.
To get the text to the email I have to first open Word, paste, copy again, and then paste in my new email within Netscape.
I am a creature of habit and I like using Netscape for email and IE6 as my browser. What's the deal with this and does anyone know how to work around this?
