Netgear Fv5318 VPN, client software 2

I have a Netgear FVS318 VPN router. I'm trying to set it up and I'm having some problems. I've been trying to use Windows XP client software, and I've been told that XP VPN client software is crap. I was wondering if anyone could give me a name of some client software that works well, I would appreciate it.

netGear has their own called NetGear ProSafe VPN client. You can try that.

I have a NetGear VPN/Firewall router too.
I wonder, however, if Netgear intentionaly made it difficult to use the standard 2000/XP VPN client software, so that they could sell the client software.
I understand they provide little to no support for the VPN set up, and all of the tutorials have failed to work for me.

Yeah splixx,, same problem here. The manuals are useless and I've had no help from Netgear at all.

I agree I did have some major issues when trying to get the client to work. I did get a very cool guide that a forum member emailed to me that did help me enourmously. At least it helped me get connected. I don't think he'd mind if I passed it on to those of you in need! If you would like a copy email me and I'll send you the attachment.

I was under the impression that the FV318 could run the pptp client and act as a gateway to another VPN server. If so, has anyone done it? I would love the manual too. If you could post a link to it...I can't post my email addy anymore...the mods get upset at me.
