Good afternoon. I have recently inherited the Veritas Netbackup (5.1MP5) “privileges.” We are running on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP 1. Things were going well until I lost a DLT320 drive on my ADIC Scalar 100 (running fiber to tapes). It was robot drive #1. After a hardware swap, things seemed better. The robot is now happy; but Veritas is not. Actually, it seems that the only trouble is that all NDMP backups from my F-880 filer drive are failing with a “the required storage unit is unavailable(219)” error. Veritas is recognizing the drive… & there is not a yellow “!” in Windows Device Manager.

Does anyone have any ideas I can try?

Thanks!

The mystery is solved! Luckily after digging around I found some good old documentation. It turns out that I needed to go under the Devices area and change some properties on the new drive. I had to rename the Device Name to "servername:Tape3" (that must match up to some other NDMP config settings made many moons ago). Pretty simple really... I'll figure this beast out one day.
