Hi guys
I used to be able to use the net send program to inform the users in the company of IT issues (ie server down, back up etc). However, since that used RPC (or was it Netbios?) and those were seen as holes in the OS, they have been plugged by Windows patches.. it no longer works. I can't rely on email as sometimes we have problems with email.
Can anyone recommend another way to get these messages out domain wide?
Thanks

Not NT related, but do you have a networked phone system? We do company wide paging ut that may not be an option for you. Our crissis procedure is as follow. We have a group assigned to update the trouble page on the intranet (This may or may not be possible for people to see), another party responsible for making a short and concise voice recording that the users hear when they call the helpdesk, and then a brief phone system announcement.

If the problem is network related (IE t1 down to a site) none of these are going to help except the helpdesk recording, so I honestly think that is the most important thing to update.
