hello.

does anyone know how to "unnest" a sequence - is it even possible? I want to edit one assemble cut into another whilst retaining the cut points and source material rather than a "one shot" nested sequence - I want to be able to match frame back to the original source rather than the nested sequence...

if this isn't possible I give up on Premiere!

Please put me out of my misery...

You could always copy the contents of the sequence and paste that onto the new timeline.

thanks.

that kind of helps...but I still cant load a sequence into the source monitor and have it behave like a sequence i.e. jumping fom cut to cut and editing straight across...this is a really basic editing function and they really should sort it out on the next version -- oh well...

By the sound of it, you are not exploiting the existing features.

A sequence open in its own timeline allows you to move around as you describe. Once that sequence is used in a parent sequence, it acts as a single clip. To edit/explore in detail, just open that sequence again (double click on parent timeline or use the tabs).

If you want to see where specific points are between child and parent sequence, then use timeline markers in the child sequence - these then show as 'clip' markers when the sequence is used in a parent.
