Hi

I own a computer company, and I am switching brands of motherboards to intel, I have got around 100+ of D865GBF motherboards
and now I need to get the ram, I did not realise till it is sto late that on the ram compatibility page it says that

2.6 V (only) 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction:
Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported
4 GB maximum total system memory
Minimum total system memory: 64 MB
Non-ECC DIMMs
Serial Presence Detect
DDR400, DDR333, and DDR266 SDRAM DIMMs

and the ram I want to use is by twinmos,

Dual Channel PC3200(DDR400MHz)

the tech specs are
1GB 512MBx2 32Mx8(x16) non-ECC DDR SDRAM

i want to use the 1 gig one

basically my question is, will this work or not? I really need help as this is giving me such a headache and I do not want to waiste my money on buying ram that will not be compatible.

Thanks

William

Have you tried running your specs through crucial.com to make sure what was compatible with those boards.... they will let you search by mobo and you can swear by what they tell you... just a thought!

Doubtful the TwinMOS will work as at the bottom of the link you gave gives 1G specs as:

1GB 512MBx2 32Mx8 (x16)

The x16 is telling me that the DIMM is double-sided with 16 chips, which your Intel link says is unsupported:

"Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported"

The link you gave for the board has links to memory tested internally by Intel themselves, and by an external testing lab. Your best bet is to use memory from one of these links.

Many RAM manufacturers offer upgrade combatibility lists. Corsair makes pretty good RAM for overclocking. Some people have been using Kingston also. I use CRUCIAL normally. I have also used MICRON which is about the same as Crucial. Look for a compatibility list on the RAM Manufacturers website.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Only opinion I can offer ceh4702 is micron is crucial. Crucial uses nothing but micron chips and boards because crucial is a subsidiary of Micron. Just thought you would like to know brother is all.

That's right. Crucial is nothing more than Micron's online outlet store.

William,
I would also recommend that you stay with memory specifically tested and certified for use with your board, or that you buy from a vendor who guarantees full compatibility or your money back. Stay away from "generic" or "house" brands.

is often a good place to start in order to get a good feel for market price. Places like or should have a memory configurator to help you select compatible memory. Anything sold here should be guaranteed.

Hi there, thought I drop in my two bits... for Intel boards I tend to use INFINEON (subsidary for Siemens) as they are compatible, stable, and a hell of lot cheaper over here in EUROPE than either Kingston, TwinMoS, Corsair or Micron... another thing to consider is the fact about DUAL CHANNELING on these boards (if they support them), in that case I would stick with either 2 sticks at 512mb or 2 sticks at 256mb and one single at 512mb...
