I'm trying to find a way to send a new email (not forward the existing one) to multiple specific coworkers when I receive an email larger than 2000KB.

I understand that I'll need to create a custom rule action, but am not sure how to go about doing this. I googled all over and found that you can create these custom actions with the Exchange Software Devlopment Kit, which of course, I do not have.

Is there any other way to set up this rule? Or any way to get this SDK? And even if I did get it, how would I create a custom action?

Thanks for the assistance,
Nick

Are you trying to accomplish this from the Server or Client side? If it is from the client side you should already have this capability. Assuming you are running the OutLook client. If your looking @ the client side to resolve this, here is a site that outlines the procedure using the OutLook client.

hmm, i followed the directions, but I still don't see an option to compose a new message stating a specific phrase..

ie
I receive an email with an attachment larger than 1000k. Now, I want to move this email into a specific folder.. no problem there. I also want to compose a new email stating "There is a new large message in the oversizedmessages folder" to 5-10 other people who work with me. There is the problem.. I don't see any way to send a new email to notify my coworkers that there is a large email in this folder.

I tried creating a custom rule, but just as with rules wizard, there is just a blank dropdown menu.

any other ideas?

I was thinking of creating a new public folder, and adding a custom recipient to exchange pointing to that folder.
However I run into the same problem with public folders. There is nothing in Folder Assistant that allows me to capture the subject of the message and forward it to a distribution list with the subject in the body of the text, not the whole message due to bogging down the exchange server.

anyone want to write up a .dll that will do this? I have been playing with visual basic scripts also, but will this open up vulnerabilities to virii since I can't digitally sign the vbs and thereby label it "safe"?

Thanks for any responses :)

nlm, you can do this using VBA code in the visual basic editor within Outlook. You need to write code that checks each message as it arrives and then creates a new e-mail and sends it to the chosen recipients if the attachment is over 1000kb.
