Hello, there.

My boss laptop (Compaq Presario 1200) have problems with two keys: number five and tab. The keys don't want to work. :(

I've been googling in order to find some piece of software capable of re-mapping some keys, but the only things I've found only refers to Shift, Left-Control, et cetera.

Is there any way to remap the five key to i.e. F5 or the "right-click key" ?

I just got a new keyboard where the Windows key and Alt key are reversed, and want to switch them back.

KeyTweak ( is freeware, but doesn't work on Windows ME.

TradeKeys from PCMag looks good, but it costs $19.95 (for a year's membership) to download before you can even try it to see if it works. It is at
I'm downloading a trial of Intes KeyChange at will let you know if it works. It is $39.95 to purchase.

That's all I've found so far.

Just a follow-up on previous posts.

The Keyboard Remap utility, part of Microsoft's Kernel Toys package, only gives you a very limited selection of keys you can remap.

Intes KeyChange said it would do what I wanted, but in practice would sometimes work and sometimes not (worse than nothing!)

I've run out of options. Anyone else have any ideas?

Do you just "want" to remap, or are the keys dead? I'd look for a new keyboard (I found my Gateway keyboard on eBay for $20.00)
