Hello,

We have 2 databases Ident and Log
In the Ident dbase is a field Ident, which is a number.
In the Log dbase is a field Log_Ident, which is a string.

It cannot be linked when adding the dbases to the report, is there a work around for this?

Kind regards,
Age

Write a formula to convert one of the datatypes to the other datatype, then use a subreport to link the second table's data into the report.

You cannot link on formula fields so a subreport is necessary in this case.

Hello dgillz,

I have tried severall things, but I can't get it working properly.

Is it neccesary to flag the "On-demand subreport" option in the Insert Report?
I put the dot in 'Create a subreport with the Report Wizard', then click Report Wizard.
I add 3 fields: id, name and lastname.

Then I go the the Link tab, and I guess that's where it goes wrong.
I add a field to link to (tried more than one...).
There is a mark in 'Select data in subreport based on field:' but then I can not select the id, only the name or lastname.

The formula you mention, is it a formula for the conversion of the main report of for the subreport?

Have been working on this the total morning, I don't know exactly anymore what I did, but it is doing what I want it to do right now.

Thanks dgillz!

Sorry I have to get back on this...

The mainreport is sorted at the Ident (id) field, the subreport displays the correct name for that id.

I now would like to sort the report at the agent name which is in the subreport.

I tried changing the Group sort to the name, sorting looks good, but the subreport then displays all the same data.

Regards,
Age
