Need to convert a Numeric date to a true date.

This date field is coming from an AS/400 file the field type is numeric the length is 6 with out leading zeros for single digit months (EX. “12111” mmddyy) when viewing this field with CR it looks like this “12,111” I would like to be able to format it like “01/11/11” mmddyy. If anybody can help it will be greatly appreciated.
