I'm looking into getting a program for controling the SPAM that comes into our Exchange server and one of the recomendations of the vendor was to change the SMTP port number on the server and assign STMP port 25 to the Anti-Spam software. When I change the port number in the services file and restart IMS; I stop receiving email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Joe

Your description is vague. Did you install your Anti-Spam software already? If you did, is it on the same server?
Is so, the SMTP port should be used by your Anti-Spam program, this is also where you would specify the new port number for exchange server, this step is necessary for the communication to take place between these two software components. You also need to tell Exchange, in IMS Connections, to forward all email through the spam filter and not DNS.

Yes, I installed it last night when I pulled an all nighter at the office. It is installed on the same server that EXCH is installed on. The vendor suggested that I change the SMTP port # in the services file to something like 6000. I did that and re-started the IMC service and receive no email. I'm trying to get Trends SPS to work on here...

Thanks in advance,

Joe
