Currently I have a machine that is water-cooled (old pictures are at then Misc button, or at
I recently put a peltier on, I took it off as there were some problems going on visible through the video card (artifacts showing up) , my theory was a power drain. I havent had this problem prior to getting a new speedy harddrive, I Also put back on my Slot Exhaust fan , which seems to crawl , even though I Took off the peltier.

currently the only fans I have , are
(2) 60x25 , 42CFM chasis fans sucking air out the back
and a single Slot Exhaust fan under my video card (The card apparently needed cooling too, artifacts are usally a result of heat and/or power)

This is whats hooked up to my system ]
I currently have a 300 Watt Sparkle PSU from monarchcomputer.com

Drives
- Maxtor 60G 5400RPM ATA/66
- Maxtor 60G 7200RPM ATA/100
- Seagate 12G 5400RPM ATA/66
- Creative Labs DVD Encore (5x/32x)
- Mitsumi 4x2x8 IDE CDrw

Cards
- Elsa Erazor X2 Geforce DDR
- 3Com Fast Etherlink 3905B-TPO 10/100
- SoundBlaster Live! Platinum (Live! Drive removed)

Board/etc
Asus K7V (or is it A7V for socketA)
AMD Duron 800
KT133 Chipset
384Meg PC100 SDram (3 sticks of 128M)

The only thing that consumes power, are the three fans, the drives, mobo/cpu, and cards, and a USB Intelimouse Explorer, and thats it, the cooling is powered direct wall current, to the dual pump Resevior.

I'm wondering if the Drives I have require a bit more power (especially since I'm considering getting another drive end of april or middle of june, that or some new PC133 memory) Karl Blessing aka kb244{fastHACK}

The only way to know for sure how much current your system is drawing is to measure it. (for example, a hard drive rated at a certain current may actually be consuming much more than stated.) We use 1 of those variable transformers with voltage and current meters built in. It's great for connecting laptops to see if the battery is taking a charge.

Karl, what is the 12v supply specs on the PS?
Sounds to me like you may be topping out the +12. If so a new drive may blow it.
Since it appears you are determined to keep loading it down, have you considered going to SCSI and mounting them in an external case. Would resolve several of your issues.
And with a new house you should have more room for the case. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

ATA/100 is faster than the latest scsi (well not the Ultra160, but heck that type of SCSI is really really expensive) Karl Blessing aka kb244{fastHACK}

i would say with all the drives you have your PSU is all but drained.a peltier will take a higher watt PSU like 400watts or more.you could also hook up a second PSU if there is room in your case.
