Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me or point me out where common error codes with explanations for the nortel systems (mainly opt11 opt81 etc) can be found.

I work as a surveilance operator at a company that has support and monitoring for nortel telephone systems among other systems.
We got a monitoring program called NetBase that gets error codes from our customers nortel boxes should any problems arise, and we act upon them if needed and if their SLA permits it.

My problems is that I don't have any formal training in nortel systems so what I know about the different error codes is self taught or gathered from other people at my work place, mainly the nortel technicans.
Unfortunatley none of them got the time to make me any sort of small sheet with common error codes and how severe and what they mean.
Im not going to operate the nortel boxes im simply forwarding severe error cases to the technicians, but its kinda hard to jude whats severe and whats normal or even if the errors have cleared themself considering I got no training in the field :)

what im interested in is a sheet with info like this
dta203 1 1 2 = 2mbit down
dta203 1 1 1 = 2mbit still down
dta203 1 1 0 = 2mbit up

or anything close to it.

Any help is greatly apreciated :)

For most Nortel messages if you are logged into the system,
in the root directory you simply type "ERR" and the error code. i.e.

>ERR DTA203 <ENTER>

DTA0203 loop x y
A Group 2 error has been detected by the PRI2 card. The error information is decoded as follows, where x : 4 = LOS (loss of signal) 3 = AIS (alarm indication
signal)2 = LFAS (loss of frame)1 = LMAS (loss of CRC multiframe)0 = RAI (remote alarm indication) Where y: 2 = alarm occurred1 = alarm persisted 0 =
alarm clearedExample: DTA203 7 4 2 - PRI loop 7 loss of signal occurred.

The NTP for Rls 4.5 is 553-3001-411 Software Input/output guide: System Messages.

If you have Nortel access go download it, also the MIBs are available there.

Thanks alot for the tip on that document got the info I needed :D
