I am a Oracle Developer that has been asked to take on the DBA role in 2 months time. I am very familiar with the OEM but I thought I would ask the experienced DBA's on here if there is 3rd party software that is favored to troubleshoot the DB rather than using the Oracle tools to make the job easier especially for someone like myself with beginner knowledge on the Oracle DB? (That was a long sentence...sorry)
I thank you in advance for your reply.

I use Bradmark's Norad tool to find sessions blocking other sessions, I use Quest's SQLab to tune the db for performance. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Hi,
We have had good results from using Spotlight for Oracle from Quest Software to monitor our Oracle instances...

It may be only available 'bundled' as part of a monitoring/tuning package called 'Oracle Central' or some such, currently, the site does not make it clear..
